|

Hiking in the Southwestern Adirondacks include hikes along the NY 8, NY 10 and NY 29A corridor as well as along the popular Powley-Piseco Road. The state lands in this region include Jessup River Wild Forest, Ferris Lake Wild Forest, Silver Lake Wilderness and Shaker Mountain Wild Forest.
There are numerous state campgrounds in this region that can be used as your base camp. You'll find Point Comfort, Little Sand Point and Poplar Point along Piseco Lake near Piseco. Moffit Beach is on Sacandaga Lake near Speculator. Caroga Lake State Campground is located near the NY 10/NY 29A junction close to the southern Adirondack Park Blue Line. You'll also find many roadside primitive campsites along Powley-Piseco Road as well as backpacking campsites in the area. We suggest purchasing the guide books Western Trails
and Central Trails
as well as Adirondack Park [Map Pack Bundle] (National Geographic Trails Illustrated Map)
