Hiking in Adirondack Park Ferris Lake Wild Forest Powley-Piseco Road House Pond
|

If you are driving north from Stratford on the Powley-Piseco Road, there is an old road on the left just before you've driven seven miles that travels to House Pond. This is in the area called Oregon on old maps. An unmarked trail heads west from the middle of a campsite along the side of Powley-Piseco Road that travels to House Pond.
You might see campers at designated campsite at the trailhead. The unmarked trail at first ascends, with one moderate climb. The trail crosses a stream before descending to the pond toward a campsite on the shore. This is one of those unknown hikes located in the Adirondacks. Most of the time you'll have the unmarked trail and small pond all to yourself.
The hike is just under a half of mile to House Pond with an elevation gain of just over 100 feet. It's a pretty easy hike and trail to follow. Although it's not marked, it looks like someone is keeping the trail clear. Look below for a couple of pictures, a video and map of this hike.
The GPS coordinates for the campsite at the trailhead are N43 15.721 W74 39.486 for those who have a GPS devise for their vehicle.
