Hiking in Adirondack Park Central Adirondacks Wilcox Lake Wild Forest Eagle Pond
|
The trail to Eagle Pond follows an old woods road. This is more of a difficult bushwhack as this is not an official DEC trail and it can be a tough trail to find and follow. This old road can be found along NY 8 in the Central Adirondacks just after the bridge over Eagle Pond Creek.
The trailhead is found along NY 8 just northeast of the Shanty Brook Trailhead. There is no sign marking the start of the trail. The approximate GPS coordinates are N43 32.768 W74 07.965 for those who have a GPS device in their vehicle. It's about a 1.5 mile hike to the pond. There are a few primitive campsites at the pond. For those are adventurous can bushwhack to the cliffs on Harrington Mountain, located east of the pond. Look below for a couple of maps of this hike courtesy of AndyArthur.org.
