Camping in Adirondack Park Central Adirondacks Lake Harris

Lake Harris State Campground is located east of the hamlet of Long Lake in the Central Adirondacks. The campground is located on scenic Lake Harris, which empties into the Hudson River. The Adirondack Interpretive Visitor Center as well as a popular trailhead for the High Peaks located nearby. There are numerous other great hiking opportunities nearby. There are 89 campsites available, of which 57 are on the lakeshore. There is also a day use area that includes a beach as well as a picnic area.
The campground is located near NY 28N north of Long Lake. The most popular hiking destination from Lake Harris Campground is a hike to the fire tower on Goodnow Mountain. If you like to bike, then we suggest checking out the Historic Camp Santanoni on Newcomb Lake, which you can also hike. It's 4.7 miles along an old dirt road from the parking area off NY 28N to the historic lodge located on Newcomb Lake. There is a popular High Peaks trailhead located at Upper Works near Tahawus .
