The Great Eastern Trail Association, working with American Hiking Society and local trail partners are creating America's newest long distance hiking trail. This path will be 1800 miles long and cross nine states, from Alabama to New York. We are currently working on getting the information on this great new trail in New York. We will be hiking the newer sections shortly. The trail will travel through Steuben County in New York.
Volunteers have been building the 45 mile section of the Great Eastern Trail that will travel in New York and the section is a branch trail of the 900+ mile Finger Lakes Trail System. The FLTC has named this new branch trail the Crystal Hills Trail. Currently about 30 miles are ready to be hiked. The Great Eastern Trail enters New York at State Line Road, north of Cowanesque Lake in Pennsylvania. The GET follows the Mid State Trail in Pennsylvania.
The northern terminus of the Great Eastern Trail is near the Moss Hill Lean To in South Bradford State Forest at the junction of the Finger Lakes Trail / North Country Trail. Come back as we will be updating this page as we complete the newest sections of the trail.
