This former summer home of Frederick Ferris and Mary Clark Thompson, was built in 1887. The surrounding spectacular gardens were developed between 1902 and 1920.  Sonnenberg Gardens and Mansion is one of the most extensively preserved country estate in the nation.

Although not considered hiking trails, a walk in the gardens of Sonnenberg is a pleasant experience that everyone in your family can enjoy (except your pet).  Located in the historic city of Canandaigua in the heart of the Finger Lakes Region of New York, it's a short drive from anywhere in Central New York.

Public Hours:
9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. May 1 – 26
(Spring "shoulder" season)
9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. May 27 September 2 (Memorial Day -- Labor Day)
9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. September 3 - October 31 (Fall "shoulder" season)
PLEASE NOTE: The Mansion closes at 3:00 PM.

Admission Prices:
$12 Adults (18 – 59)
$10 Seniors (60 +) or AAA Members (w/valid AAA member card)
$6 Military personnel with Military ID, Students (13 – 17 and college students with valid college ID)
$1 Children 4-12
Free for children 3 and under.
Admission includes entrance into the gardens and mansion.
Visit both Sonnenberg and Granger Homestead and Carriage Museum for just $14 (save $4).
Sonnenberg Members receive unlimited regular garden season daytime admittance.

Finger Lakes Wine Center:
Open DAILY for wine tasting. Choose from 10-15 different wines from our rotating-inventory tasting bar in the Wine Center cellar downstairs for a nominal fee. Featured vintages encompass the residual sugar range from dry to semi-sweet reds and whites, dessert or sparkling wines, all made with New York State-grown grapes. The tasting room closes one-half hour before the wine sales and gift shop upstairs.

Kids' Trail Adventure Available:
Not only do kids under 12 visit free at Sonnenberg, but a trail of clues along the garden path with hidden signs and stamps provides an adventure. Collect all special stamps at spots along the trail on your adventure map and win a prize at the end!

High Noon Café:
The café offers a delicous assortment of crepe sandwiches, soups, salads, fruits and cheeses, as well as desserts. Specialty beverages such as soy smoothies are available.
