The state park system hosted 56 million visitors in 2009. From a taxpayer and banking standpoint, the revenues generated plus the economic ripple effect, gives the state a very good return on its taxpayer dollars.  What is wrong with our state government?  Contact your local or state government official to voice your opposition to such an injustice to the state park system.  We should never forget who really owns the state parks.... “For the benefit and enjoyment of the people.”

It's time for a state government that understands the people of New York and how to run a state without running people as well as jobs out of the state!

Just as New York State has been blessed with an abundance of unique and inspiring natural assets, we are also fortunate that many generous New Yorkers have stepped forward to protect and preserve those assets in some of the finest state parks and open spaces in the nation.  Many of the state parks have hiking trails, as well as many other great activities for everyone to enjoy.  Below is a list of links of some of the great state parks with hiking trials and scenic views.
