New York State Parks Old Erie Canal State Historic Park Butternut Drive to Kirkville Rd

This six mile section of the Old Erie Canal Trail may be the most popular section of the trail. Don't expect to be alone if your planning a hike or bike along the trail. Cedar Bay Picnic Area is located off this section of the trail in Dewitt. There are large parking area's located at most of the road crossings.
Be sure to check out the aqueducts at Butternut Creek and Limestone Creek. There are also footbridges over the canal that lead to Cedar Bay Picnic Area as well as Green Lakes State Park. The level trail is very easy walking or biking for everyone.
