This half mile, steep hike to the 2225 foot summit of Rocky Mountain has some great views of  Fourth Lake and the surrounding area from it's open summit (see panorama above).  Simply follow the steep, well worn trail (and yellow DEC discs) to the summit.  The round trip of this hike is one mile, with an elevation gain of 448 feet.  This hike is well worth exploring if your in the Old Forge area.  Look below for a video and map of this hike.

Directions:  From Old Forge, NY 28 just east of Eagle Bay.  There is a well marked parking area on the left for the Rocky Mountain & Black Bear Mountain trailhead. GPS coordinates are N43 45.897 W74 47.702 for the parking area on NY 28.
