Best of the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania: Weathering Knob

THE HIKE - A stiff but short climb of 0.3 mile leads to a view point on Weathering Knob. Total round trip mileage is 0.6 miles for this relatively short AT hike to some great views. From the parking area, cross the BUSY road and follow the white blazes into the forest.
Reach Weathering Knob at 0.3 miles. You can continue for another 0.7 miles to another view or simply retrace your steps back to your vehicle. One NOTE: There are a lot of ROCKS on this hike. There is an elevation gain of 280 feet on this moderate hike. The elevation profile above is for the return trip from Weathering Knob.
DIRECTIONS - This hike starts where the Appalachia Trail crosses Blue Mountain Rd at Little Gap. Follow Blue Mountain Rd north from Danielsville, PA. There is a small pull off for AT parking just off the road. The GPS coordinates for the parking area are N40 48.366 W75 32.089 for those who have a GPS devise in their vehicle.
