Forest Rim Rock Overlook

A short trail down steep stairs leads to a scenic view of Kinzua Bay, which extends southwest from the main body of the Allegheny Reservoir. There is a 200 foot elevation drop from the parking area, down the stairs to the stone overlook. There is a picnic area located near the parking area. The parking area is on Forest Road 454, 2.5 miles from PA 59, which is about 17 miles east of Warren, PA and 23 miles west of Bradford, PA. The GPS coordinates for the turn off PA 59 onto FR 454 are N41 51.572 W78 54.697 for those who have a GPS devise.
You can find more information on this popular destination in Allegheny National Forest from the USDA Forest Service website. While it is easy to visit the overlook from FR 454, the 1.3 mile Rim Rock Trail takes hikers from Kinzua Beach, steeply up to the overlook for a 2.6 mile round trip moderate hike.
