Salmon River

The Salmon River State Forest has 2033 acres available for primitive camping, fishing, as well as hiking.  This scenic state forest is located along the northern shores of the Salmon River Reservoir.  The DEC map below shows numerous trails within its borders, however when we visited in late September 2009 most of the trails I saw were not maintained.  Truly a shame that the state hasn't kept the trails maintained on Coey Hill as well as other locations in this beautiful state forest.

There is a large parking area at the end of the seasonal dirt section of CCC Road.  There are trails along the shore of the reservoir, which is a very scenic location.  This state forest is located near the very popular Salmon River Falls Unique Area.

Directions:  From Pulaski take County Route 2 east to the "Little America" DEC sign.  Turn right onto CCC Road.  The state forest begins at the plow turn around and the start of the seasonal part of CCC Road.
