There are numerous Owls Head Mountains in the Adirondacks.  This is the one with a fire tower near Long Lake.  The elevation of the mountain is 2812 feet and the views are amazing.  A well worn trail leads 3.1 miles from Endion Road to the fire tower.  There is an elevation gain of 1300 feet.  If you travel to the Adirondacks to hike up Blue Mountain and find the lot full or too crowded for your taste, then why not head over and try out Owls Head Mountain.  Its a couple of miles more hiking than Blue Mountain but you still get quite a view with a good chance of much fewer people along the way.

This is one of the mountains you'll climb for the ADK's Fire Tower Challenge.
