Link Trail

North Country Trail

Tioughnioga WMA

The Link Trail leaves Irish Hill Road at the bend and enters Tioughnioga WMA as you descend into the woods.  The trail crosses a stream before ascending and winding its way toward Holmes Road.  The trail reaches abandoned Holmes Road and turns left following the old road.

The North Country Trail coincides with the Link Trail

In 0.1 miles the Link Trail reaches the junction with the blue blazed Onondaga Trail on your right.  This is the point where the North Country National Scenic Trail turns and follows the Onondaga Trail toward Deruyter State Forest, Highland County Park, Morgan Hill State Forest, Maxon Creek State Forest, Cuyler Hill State Forest and the junction with the Finger Lakes Trail.  The Link Trail continues straight following the abandoned road.  Now your following just the yellow blazes of the Link Trail.

The North Country Trail leaving the Link Trail

The trail crosses Damon Road and ascends toward Corkinsville Road.  At the junction of this seasonal dirt road, the trail turns left toward a yellow gate and now follows a grassy DEC Road.  The trail turns right off the grassy road and winds its way toward Dugway Road.

Link Trail in Tioughnioga Wildlife Management Area

When the trail reaches Dugway Road means the end of this 3.8 mile section.  The main continuous trail turns right and follows Dugway Road to NY 80.  A dead end section of the Link Trail continues two miles across the street, but abruptly ends due to the loss of permission from a landowner.  For detail on this two mile stretch of trail see Tioughnioga WMA

It is highly recommended that you don't hike in Tioghnioga WMA during hunting season.
