The 23,494 acre Hudson Gorge Wilderness is located in Essex and Hamilton Counties. It is located north of NY 28 between the hamlets of Indian Lake and North River, near the center of the Adirondack Park. Nearly 6000 acres were added in 2013 by the state's acquisition of lands once owned by the Finch, Pruyn paper company. The steep sided Hudson Gorge is one of the most spectacular reaches of the Hudson River. This area features the spectacular OK Slip Falls.
