7/10/11 NOTE FROM THE FLTC: Because of a lost landowner permission, the trail is closed between Pond Road and Camp Road, requiring a roadwalk around this section. The map below has NOT been updated.
This 11.5 mile section of the Finger Lakes Trail / North Country Trail is fairly level except for one section where the trail descends 400 feet toward NY 19A and the Genesee Valley Greenway. This trail is one of hundreds of greenways being developed across the nation along old canals, abandoned rail beds, and riverbanks. The Genesee Valley Greenway passes through scenic woodlands, river and stream valleys, rolling farmlands, steep gorges, and historic villages located in sixteen towns in Monroe, Livingston, Wyoming, Allegany, and Cattaraugus counties in New York State. The Finger Lakes Trail / North Country Trail follows the GVG for just over one mile.

This section ends as the trail crosses the Genesee River on the Whiskey Bridge. This is also the southern terminus of the Letchworth Trail. This is the closest the FLT/NCT passes to Letchworth State Park. I would recommend a trip to this wonderful state park if your in the area. This park is sometimes called the grand canyon of the east.
