From the DEC Fishing Parking area off NY 26, the Finger Lakes Trail climbs steeply 500 feet into Otselic State Forest.  The trail eventually reaches a top height of 1955 feet in the state forest.  On the hike up to the highest point you will find a bench along side the trail.  This is the Winston Braxton Memorial Bench.

The trail also follows an old grassy road for a short period.  The trail crosses many old roads and even an old quarry in the state forest.  The last part of the trail winds through a pine forest before leaving the state forest at seasonal dirt Will Warner Road.  From this point the trail enters private property on its way to Pharsailia WMA.

You can create numerous loop hike options utilizing the FLT and the seasonal dirt roads located in the forest.

While in the area check out Alice's Dowry Bed & Breakfast in Cincinnatus.  It's conveniently located for those looking to hike the Finger Lakes Trail.
