Many travelers of NY 28 drive right by Cathedral Pines Trail without even noticing the small DEC sign for this short 0.1 mile loop hike.  This easy hike is a great leg stretcher for travelers along the busy Adirondack highway and is a recommended stop.  Parking is along the side of the busy road.

This easy to follow loop enters the woods and travels by a few impressive stands of white pines.  There is a memorial for Malcolm Blue, a local ranger who was killed in WWII.  The memorial was erected in 1946 and the tree that stands behind it snapped in 1989.  You might notice the moss covered log that was once part of the tree.
