The Bristol Hills Trail is a branch trail of the 900+ mile Finger Lakes Trail System. The trail winds over 50 miles from its northern terminus at Ontario County Park, through Naples, NY and on to it's southern terminus at the main Finger Lakes/North Country Trail near Mitchellsville, NY. The trail is marked with orange blazes and passes through numerous state forest and Hi Tor WMA. It is a great long weekend backpacking hike for those who have a shuttle.

This section covers the trail from Wagon Wheel Campground to Two Rod Rd. Some of this section is on private property and part of the trail passes through Urbana State Forest. From Wagon Wheel Campground the trail soon leaves the road to follow a ravine along an old washed out road. Then the trail follows the abandoned section of Edwards Road.
Junction with the Fiona Loop Trail
From here the Bristol Hills Trail meets the blue blazed Fiona Loop Trail. The Fiona Loop Trail is 1.5 miles long and with the Bristol Hills Trail, it creates a 2.8 mile loop hike. The Fiona Loop Trail is a nice woods walk with many old boundary trees. The Fiona Loop Trail is closed from mid OCT to mid DEC for hunting. Please respect the landowners request and stay off the trail during these dates.
Trail at Bean Station Road
The trail passes two small lakes on its way toward County Route 77, then crosses several small and large bridges over streams. The trail then crosses Bean Station Road with parking 200 feet to the east of the trail. The trail now ascends and passes a restored cemetery on your left before reaching the very large Evangeline Shelter also on your left. This shelter has a loft, cooking fireplace, tent camping, campfire and outhouse. This huge shelter was built in 2000 after the original shelter was destroyed by fire in 1999.
Evangeline Shelter
The trail enters Urbana State Forest and soon reaches the junction with the blue blazed Bog Nature Trail. This trail creates a 4.3 loop hike called the Urbana Bog Nature Trail Loop. The Bristol Hills Trail will pass an observation deck of the bog. The trail will pass the southern terminus of the Bog Nature Trail on its way to Two Rod Road and the end of this section.
