The Bristol Hills Trail is a branch trail of the 900+ mile Finger Lakes Trail System.  The trail winds over 50 miles from its northern terminus at Ontario County Park, through Naples, NY and on to it's southern terminus at the main Finger Lakes/North Country Trail near Mitchellsville, NY.  The trail is marked with orange blazes and passes through numerous state forest and Hi Tor WMA.  It is a great long weekend backpacking hike for those who have a shuttle.

This 12.1 mile section covers the trail from its northern terminus in Ontario County Park to NY 245 in Naples, NY. The Bristol Hills Trail begins just off the county park road at the small parking area for the jump off.  In no time you reach a kiosk and soon after the "jump off". There are spectacular views from this view point.  From here the trail winds near the summit of Gannett Hill and reaches it's highest point along the trail at 2247 feet. Once you leave the county park and enter PRIVATE PROPERTY, there is a stretch of trail that is CLOSED for HUNTING from OCT 1 - NOV 15. After 2.1 miles of hiking there is a side trail that travels to the Beaver Pond Lean To.

The trail now descends toward County Route 33 and Camp Warren Cutler BSA.  There are NO DOGS allowed in this boy scout camp at anytime. The trail now ascends Cleveland Hill and has a few views along the hill before descending again toward Clement Road. This section of TRAIL IS CLOSED FOR HUNTING from NOV 15 - DEC 22. Now you have a 1.8 mile road walk before leaving the roads and entering West Hill Nature Preserve.  This section of the trail is CLOSED during big game hunting season (NOV 15 - DEC 22).  As the trail descends toward Naples, there is a blue blazed side trail that leads to another view point along this section of trail.

You can help support this trail by purchasing official Bristol Hills Trail maps from the Finger Lakes Trail Conference or volunteer! We recommend that you check the latest trail conditions from the Finger Lakes Trail Conference website under the "trail conditions" link, as there can be changes that we are unaware of.
