This 10.1 mile section of the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania features the fields of Cumberland Valley. The AT winds along hedgerows and through farmland. Water and shade are scarce along this pastural section of trail. There are no shelters along this stretch of trail. Check yourself for ticks if hiking through this part of the trail.
This section of trail starts off PA 74 (heading northbound) and at 1.0 miles the trail crosses Lisburn Road. The trail mostly follows field hedgerows in this area and crosses numerous roads. At 1.5 miles cross Byers Road. At 2.0 miles cross Trindle Road. At 3.1 miles cross Ridge Drive. At 3.6 miles cross Old Stonehouse Road.

Appalachian Trail between I-76 and US 11
At 4.2 miles cross Appalachian Drive and then at 4.5 miles cross the PA TRPK (I-76) on highway overpass, at 4.7 miles turn left off road. At 5.7 miles cross US 11 on a pedestrian bridge. There are many restaurants, motels along US 11 just off the trail. At 6.3 miles pass under powerlines.

At 6.5 miles turn left onto Bernheisel Bridge Road and soon cross I-81 on the highway overpass. At 6.8 miles turn right off road and soon cross road. After a walk along a nice boardwalk next to Conodoguinet Creek, cross the creek on a pedestrian bridge attached to the Bernheisel Bridge at 8.0 miles. At end of bridge, make a U-turn, then turn left under bridge. The Scott Farm Trail Work Center is straight ahead.
At 9.2 miles reach Sherwood Drive and follow the road for about 400 feet, then re-enter the woods. At 10.1 miles reach the pedestrian underpass of PA 944 and the end of this section of the AT.
